The Pirate at Breakfast
A pirate knocked one morning
Just as Dad was frying eggs.
He had a map, a wooden sword,
And seaweed round his legs.
"Your treasure chest!" he thundered.
My father scratched his head.
"We've got a tin of biscuits.
Would you like some jam on bread?"
The pirate thought a moment,
Then sat down on a chair.
He ate six buttered crumpets
And forgot why he was there.
At last he raised his cutlass
And cried, "I've found my gold!"
Then filled his hat with biscuits
Before the tea got cold.
